March 31 - April 18th, 2014




The next several pictures show pictures of the children using different materials to build things in a creative way.  Some children are making letters using Legos and some are building 'airports', some are even building spaceships.  During and after the children construct something, we often incorporate math concepts into their play by asking how many blocks they used, or how many Legos did it take to make the 'J'..., this type of questioning offers many opportunities to extend on their learning.




As you all know, we have been working very hard on creating a zoo of our own.  The next several pictures show many different things that we have done/explored with animals.  We have our classroom pets, the school's bird 'Zulie' and our miniature plastic animals that we play with in the zoo we have constructed.  We will continue to explore animals and will continue to add details to our zoo over the next several weeks.





Since Spring has sprung, we have really started exploring many different aspects of plants, seeds, growing, gardening and what takes place during the seasonal changes.  We have dissected seeds, planted seeds, painted pictures of flowers, observed our garden over several weeks, and have even taken pictures of our outside bushes, trees and garden to document the changes that will take place.  




The children continue to learn about food - measuring, operation of a kitchen, preparation of food/serving and different heating elements to use depending on the type of food that is being cooked.  The children have made homemade ice-cream and muffins over the last couple of weeks.  The first attempt at ice-cream did not work, so we brainstormed as to why it didn't work and then tried it again, using slightly different ingredients - - it worked and tasted great!!





The next several pictures showcase a little bit of the creative side to our classroom.  You will see a variety of things going on that include opportunities for the children to be creative and do what they really enjoy.  There are no limits for the mind to be creative!
